Infection Control to prevent nosocomial diseases

Preventing nosocomial infections is a high priority for any care provider and is also a very important consideration for us at Hill-Rom when we design and manufacture our products. We take great consideration when designing the beds, surfaces, lifts and furniture to ensure they are as easy as possible to keep clean and to disinfect.

Liko patient lifting slings are also available in a disposable version, to be used only with a single patient and then to be disposed of. In addition to preventing the spread of bacteria, this solution also has the advantage of helping reduce the need for cumbersome laundry handling. Hill-Rom® has also developed and incorporated protocols that are maintained both in our Service Centres and in the Hospitals we serve. This policy addresses decontamination of all hard surfaces, micro-spheres (for air-fluidised units) and laundry items (including air mattresses, covers and sheets). Hill-Rom® guarantees decontamination according to procedures developed in consultation with the Regional Public Health Laboratory, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and the United States Center for Disease control. All procedures are recorded and records are available upon request.

From the very beginning, consideration for those for whom we develop our products has been our most important guiding star. Our vision, to always improve quality of life for patients and caregivers, is reflected in our daily activities.
