Hill-Rom® 900 Bed Introduced to Improve Safety and Efficiency

Hill-Rom is now introducing the Hill-Rom® 900 bed in Europe. The bed is designed with simplicity in mind to enhance ease of use and efficiency while still offering features that promote safety for nurses and patients.

"With the introduction of the Hill-Rom® 900 bed, Hill-Rom is able to offer customers an advanced yet easy to use bed at an attractive price,” said Philippe Tatinclaux, director for Strategic Marketing and New Product Development for Hill-Rom’s International Division. “We know how important the nurse is to patient care. This bed assists nurses in performing their jobs more efficiently and effectively, allowing more time to care for the patient.”

The Hill-Rom® 900 bed is designed to accommodate frequent and repetitive tasks as well as advanced duties normally carried out within acute care and medical surgical wards.  Adding to the effectiveness, the bed’s features are intuitive, making them easy to quickly learn and maximize use. Several educational tools also are available to help educate the customer on correct use, regarding both the features of the bed for care protocols and for correct ergonomic handling of the bed.

To assist with care protocols the Hill-Rom® 900 bed is designed to allow the patient to mobilise in and out of bed, by themselves and with the help of caregivers and other medical technical equipment such as Liko™ Lifts. Hill-Rom’s approach to progressive mobility is aimed at providing mobility at any stage of the patient care pathway. The Hill-Rom® 900 bed offers several features to help assist with this task, such as the Line of Site® angle indicator to help determine head of bed angle, one touch EasyChair® and egress handles for safe and easy mobilisation.

Two new features are aimed directly at safety.

  • The Hill-Rom® Care Monitor alerts users to the need for a routine maintenance check, helping to ensure the bed is always safe for patients and caregivers, and working to its optimum functionality. This tool is designed to give a clear indication of how the bed is being used, ensuring more effective bed fleet management.
  • The Intelligent Nightlight helps create a No Falls™ environment. The nightlight will shine green when the bed is in the lowest position. It also illuminates the surrounding floor space at the point where the patient exits the bed to guide them in a dark or poorly lit room and prevent tripping over potential hazards. If the bed is elevated from the lowest position, the nightlight will shine orange. A warning light on the control panel will also alert the caregiver.

Finally, the intelligent Auto Contour™ feature not only prevents the patient from sliding toward the foot end of the bed when raising the backrest, but also allows the nurse or patient to easily control the angle between the backrest and the thigh support for maximum comfort. When combined with Hill-Rom’s wide range of therapeutic surfaces, the Hill-Rom® 900 bed can help to manage the risk for pressure ulcers.
